It’s almost time to leave 2023 behind and start planning for an even better new year. Sure, many people will make New Year’s resolutions and fail to achieve them, but making resolutions is still a good idea with plenty of positive side effects.
Being honest with yourself about how you want to feel, grow, and develop is good for your overall mental health. Making resolutions is also hopeful and optimistic, enhancing your positive view of the future – which can motivate you to act. It also gives you an opportunity to focus on yourself and consider your broader responsibilities and expand your positive effects on others.
Even small resolutions can add up to big changes in your life. If you’re not sure where to start, we hope these eight ideas will inspire you to strive for happiness and success so you can achieve more in 2024.
1 – Set Short-Term, Achievable Goals
Prepare a weekly plan and write down goals that are attainable. These goals can be simple, like organizing your workspace or reaching out to a new business contact. Focus on actions that help with time management, defeat procrastination, and motivate you to complete more tasks so you are making progress towards your big-picture goals. 2 – Prioritize Mental Health
It is easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities, but that doesn’t always give you time to check-in with yourself and resolve matters that are on your mind. Make your mental health a priority by trying meditation, journaling your thoughts, or talking to someone to help process what is going on in your life. Connecting with friends and family and volunteering your time to help others can also give your mental health a boost. Speaking of connecting, reach out to our team to chat about your goals for 2024! We’d love to hear about them.
3 – Focus on Your Physical Fitness
There is plenty of evidence to suggest the importance of moving your body for health and longevity. Try new things to find a workout that you love and will want to stick with. For example, a 20-minute HIIT workout, yoga, cycling, or a quick run in your neighborhood can all be fun and beneficial for your health. Additionally, incorporate nutrient-rich foods into your meals and strive to get a good night’s sleep.
4 – Stay on Top of Your Finances
Managing your finances may feel overwhelming, but it will set you up for success in the long run. A clear budget can help you prepare guidelines for what you can comfortably spend and spot the areas where you can cut back. Tracking your spending is a useful way to understand where your money goes each month so you can manage your finances wisely. Perhaps we can help prep and prepare for your 2024 corporate budgets? 5 – Read More Books
Reading exercises the brain, enhances your ability to focus, and can even improve sleep. Try to set a specific time every day to read, like right before you sleep or after your lunch break. Check out programs at your local library like reading challenges or try joining a book club. Another way to “read” more books is to listen to audiobooks on your daily commute or while doing tasks around the house.
6 – Learn More About Your Interests
Today it’s easier than ever to get new information online, via streaming shows, news notifications, and reading the latest updates right on your smartphone. Make a note when piques your interest, then do some research when you have time and exercise your curiosity. There are also online learning platforms and certification programs that you can enroll in to learn new skills and enhance your knowledge of your professional interests.
7 – Volunteer and Contribute to Your Community
Volunteers report better physical health than non-volunteers, and helping others has been shown to lower rates of depression and anxiety. Measure like donating, mentoring youth, supporting charitable events, or volunteering at animal shelters are great ways to help you grow while doing good for your community. Many of our supplier partners have give back programs. Ask us about the specifics!
8 – Have More Fun
Hustle culture is overrated. Make sure you take time to indulge in good food, music, arts, dance, literature – or other recreational activities you enjoy. Try to incorporate small things into your daily life that make you smile and make bigger plans for travel or events that will be fun in the moment while creating lasting memories.
One of the most important things to remember when making resolutions is to not be hard on yourself. It’s only natural to get off track but remember that every step you take towards your resolutions gets you closer to your goals. We hope this list sparked plans for your own resolutions and as always, we are here to help with your marketing goals, branded merch and ideas to help you achieve your goals.
